I attempted to put the fact that this is easily one of my top ten favorite games of all time, but to date in this endeavor this is the best Pokémon game. It does the best job of taking the existing franchise and refitting it into a new gameplay loop that has both a surprising level of depth and is easy enough for new players to learn the fundamentals of the dungeon-crawler genre. The graphics hold up very well and the game is fun, even almost 20 years later.
