Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is one of my personal favorite games of all time. The remake didn't have to do much to keep that status so this is definitely a top-tier game on the Nintendo Switch, even if it does have a few shortcomings. Yes, Chapter 2 is still a little annoying and Chapter 3 feels a little grindy, but the quality of life improvements like the Quick Travel room in the sewers and the partner wheel breathe enough new life into the gmae.

Still, as a remake this still feels like its not what we have come to expect from a Nintendo remake. Past remakes have included post-game content such as expanded narrative options (look at Bowser's Fury and other expansions included in remakes) so for this to not have what should have been an easy win in the form of Luigi's story feels a little like a missed opportunity. Still, it does not take away from a fun experience in the game itself.
