033: Pokemon Trozei

With Gen III drawing to a close, the Nintendo DS being only a couple of years old, and the power of the Pokémon IP being a proven sales leader, the idea to release a number of smaller spin-off titles that really showcased what the DS could be used for was a no-brainer. Pokémon Trozei filled this role and also delivered a fun match-three puzzle game experience.

The goal in Trozei is not that different from most of the other games. Defeat the evil team trying to use Pokémon for personal gain and complete the PokéDex by catching (in this case Trozeing) all the Pokémon.  Some of the gameplay is a little repetitive, something which comes with the territory of this genre, and the controls are a little loose which can make the game pretty easy just by swiping on the touch screen quickly without much strategy in some levels. Still, there is enough fun to be had if someone is looking for a fun match-three game with a Pokémon skin.
