2024 Roadmap

These always feel more like threats than promises but I can promise that we do have some cool things coming down the line on both here and our YouTube channel. I figure rather than keeping people in the dark about our plans for the remainder of 2024, this would be a good time to bring our readers, listeners, and viewers up to date with some of our longer term plans.

Beware of Spoilers will continue to bring listeners the latest reviews in movies, television, comics, and books (so long as they are reasonably on brand for things we cover). Episodes about major releases will be uploaded to YouTube as well, however most standard episodes will remain on podcast services.

Thirty Minute Reviews is once again evolving. On top of it being the home for major news coverage like San Diego Comic Con and D23 this year, it will also be home to weekly movie reviews for great older movies or previous entries in a franchise that has a new release coming. For example, with Twisters imminently releasing, we will be looking back at Twister next Monday and in advance of Deadpool and Wolverine, Josie will be joining for a look back at the Fox X-Men movies from X-Men through Dark Phoenix. With the announcement of Agatha All Along coming on September 18th, we will also be doing a rewatch of WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness starting this Thursday.

Exploring Hyperspace Lanes will be looking back at some of the content that we previously discussed as Josie gets around to playing The Force Unleashed and The Force Unleashed 2 for the first time.

The Backlog Files will be pressing on with its existing coverage structure with the additions of some more older games beyond just what we have been covering in the past.

This brings us to some of the more exciting announcements. Following the success of Succession Planning last year, the sequel and part two of the duology will be arriving on Kindle this Black Friday (November 29th, 2024). To help those who aren't up to date, part one will be available for free to add to your Kindle library next week from July 15th through July 19th. On that same day, a special edition hardcover that collects both parts of Succession Planning into one book will be released. Succession Planning Part Two will be $2.99 at launch for Kindle and included for free in Kindle Unlimited. If you want to preorder it, you can click here.

This year also marks the 10th anniversary of The Depths of Winter so a special hardcover edition on will be released on November 29th, 2024 with a special look ahead at what's coming next and a bonus short story. Preorders will be going live for all these books through Amazon in the near future and as always proceeds from these purchases go towards doing cool stuff here and on the podcasts like going to film festivals and preview events.

This brings us to probably the most exciting announcements: how we are expanding our offerings on the website and on YouTube. Here on MWPNews.com we will be adding content based on just about every podcast episode that is posted, sometimes expanding on the conversation, sometimes just an article saying that the episode is up. Either way, this will streamline things for people just looking for quick thoughts and numerical scores.

YouTube will see the greatest expansion of content. On top of our Nuzlocke challenges, we will be adding additional runs for Pokémon games that are also randomized. Starting in the near future we will be adding a randomized Catch All challenge for Pokémon HeartGold and a Chaos challenge for Pokémon Ruby. Outside of these we will also be doing a lengthy video about the Legacy Challenge in The Sims 2 and some of the interesting quirks the AI showcases in The Game of Life for the PlayStation. Finally, we will also be beginning a Madden 23 franchise with a fantasy draft and the Carolina Panthers relocated to Paris and rebranded the Monarchs. This will ideally be starting in early August.
