DGA Reaches Deal With The AMPTP
On Sunday it was announced that the Directors Guild of America has reached a deal with the studios to avoid a strike. The deal includes large increases in the residual rate and assurances that the studios will not replace directors with artificial intelligence. That said, the DGA did not receive a prohibition of training AI using guild-created material or a residual structure based on performance, both of which are points of contention that led to the WGA strike and the possibility of SAG joining them on the picket lines.
The full terms of the deal will be revealed on Tuesday when the full terms of the deal are presented to the DGA board.
