Disney Releases The First Trailer For Their Live-Action Moana Remake
We have no one to blame but ourselves.
Well, here we are. Because we as the movie-going audience lack the self control to not go and see the same movie when remade in live-action (or photorealistic animation in some cases), we get a remake of Moana, a movie that will be under ten years old at the time of release. It will also be under two years since the sequel was released, which appeared to set up a third movie.
The live-action remake will presumably retell the story of the original, except this time Auli'i Cravhalo will not be playing the title character, newcomer Catherine Laga'aia will be filling the role. Meanwhile, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be reprising the role of Maui.
Moana releases on 7/10/2026.
