I cannot for the life of me figure out why Warner Bros./Discovery let this get away and would have rather sold it than kept it as a Max exclusive. In a year of strong animated shows like X-Men '97, Kite-Man: Hell Yeah, and My Adventures With Superman, somehow Batman: Caped Crusader managed to eclipse them all to be the best animated show of 2024. As an adaptation of the existing Batman mythos with a bunch of new twists that are best experienced without being spoiled, this is one of the more interesting interpretations of both the character and Gotham City in a long time. The best endorsement I can give the show as someone who loathes the binge model is that I intended to watch it over the course of three nights but ended up marathoning the entire season in one night. We will do a more spoiler-filled discussion after the show launches but for right now, check it out, it is well worth your time.
