How We Will Report On Rumors, Leaks, and Test Screenings

So we are headed into several major development and marketing cycles in 2025 in ways that we haven't since the inception of this site. Next year we have Captain America: Brave New World, The Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four: First Steps, Superman, Avatar: Fire and Ash, and Ballerina slated for release while it is expected that some marketing material for The Mandalorian and Grogu, Avengers: Doomsday, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Harry Potter, Spider-Man 4, and other franchises slated for release in 2026 and 2027.

Obviously there will be more than those but I selected those movies because they're likely to be the most prone to internet toxicity. As such, we can reasonably expect a lot of alleged rumors, alleged leaks, and alleged reports on the results of test screenings to be released by various sources on the internet. Just today we got two separate reports from the same website published about two hours apart that allege completely contradictory assessments of quality from an upcoming movie coming out of test screenings.

That is why our policy will be as follows:
If we cannot independently verify claims regarding what happens in a test screening or something else of that nature, we will not report on it or comment on it here.

Filmmaking is a fluid process so to act hypercritical of what strangers think of an early cut of a movie is a waste of our and your time, especially if we can't guarantee the accuracy of the report. There are also people and entities who use the notorious secrecy and confidentiality of the test screening process to create negative press about a movie before release to try and tank the box office returns along political or ideological lines. Without being able to independently verify the claims, all talking about them does is give additional oxygen to an already raging fire of toxicity.

That said, if we get our own source that we can verify, we will run a story based on that information. Also, if a studio puts out a press release or makes an official announcement, we will run with that as well without holding back what we think the implications could be. As evidenced by the fact that we are beholden to official releases more now than in the past, we are not afraid to hold back, even if the studios don't like what we have to say.
