More Delays Amid WGA Strike
Following on last week's initial reporting that movies like Blade would be delayed by the ongoing WGA strike, new reports are coming out regarding what shows currently in production would be suspended or postponed due to the ongoing strike.
Within the last few days, production has halted on the AppleTV+ series Severance, the Showtime series Billions, the Paramount+ series Evil (in that case production wrapped for the season), the final season of Netflix's Stranger Things, and the anticipated Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again.
It is worth noting that all of these shows are well into production, unlike a movie like Blade that just hired a new writer within the last month. However, these delays come as a result of WGA picketing at the sets where these shows are being shot and various other unions in the industry (IATSE, SAG, and the Teamsters) refusing to cross the picket line. These are significant because the major studios are banking on being able to release content that is already written, but if they are continually delayed, then that would put delays into the consumer side. Once viewers are forced into that reality, the studios will be forced to bend.
