The First Teaser For Thunderbolts* Is Here!

We are about nine months away from the release of Thunderbolts* so it is probably not the worst time for Marvel Studios to begin trying to generate hype for this movie. I'm not entirely sure the teaser is going to change many minds but here it is.

There's a disconcertingly Snyder-esque darkness to the cinematography which like ok fine go for a tone but it makes it hard for a teaser to be received well when most people will watch it on their phone. The other issue is that this is one of the last movies before Avengers: Doomsday and we aren't exactly in a build-up phase to what will be the next major Avengers event. To put it in phase three parlance, this is the Thor: Ragnarok slot which pretty clearly leads directly into Avengers: Infinity War. It's unclear if this will (maybe Sentry is from an alternate universe and is the herald of incursion) but it appears more and more that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are here to be billed as an Infinity War/Endgame-level cinematic event but is more of a bridge to the next real era (likely the era of mutants) and narratively more closely is in line with Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Let's see if the second trailer will tell us more about the plot but for right now I'd have to see more to render an opinion.
