This Week Across Our Channels (Week of 12/7/2025)
Ella McCay, Hamnet, Minecraft, and an early review of Song Sung Blue!
It's been a while, mostly because I've had a lot going on, which was directly interfering with my ability to both record and see movies theatrically. I'm mostly certain this has been resolved so let's get into the schedule for this week.
Monday: Thirty Minute Reviews - Breaking Down The Netflix/Warner Bros. Deal
After months of consternation, we now know who has won the initial bidding process for Warner Bros. What comes next? How bad is it that Netflix acquired these rights? Can anything be done?
Monday: MWPNewsGaming - Minecraft (Part 1)
Feels like everyone does Minecraft videos, so here we are.
Tuesday: Beware of Spoilers - Hamnet
I'm hearing the Oscar race is coming down to Hamnet and One Battle After Another and Jessie Buckley gives a career best performance. I was slated to do this last Friday but issues preempted it.
Wednesday: Exploring Hyperspace Lanes - 50th Anniversary Plans
We finally got confirmation that Lucasfilm is doing a full remaster of Star Wars for the 50th anniversary in 2027. Predictably, people are upset.
Thursday: Beware of Spoilers - Jay Kelly
I actually liked White Noise so I'm here for Noah Baumbach's latest film starring George Clooney as an aging actor (as I understand it, I could be wrong). It was at both Hamptons International Film Festival and New York Film Festival though.
Friday: Beware of Spoilers - Ella McCay
A comedy/drama about a woman who becomes governor while dealing with her family issues, written and directed by the great James L. Brooks? Seated.
Friday: MWPNewsGaming - Final Fantasy XIII (Part 1)
I played Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360 back in the day. I don't remember if I finished it, so join in while we go through the first two chapters.
Saturday: Beware of Spoilers - Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
I really liked the first two Knives Out movies, but since no local theater is showing Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, I have to wait for it to come to Netflix. Hopefully this isn't a precursor for how things will be going forward with Warner Bros.
Sunday: Beware of Spoilers - Song Sung Blue
It worked out that the Giants' season is basically over and none of the games in the 1 PM slot are particularly interesting so the opportunity to see Song Sung Blue early does not interfere with too much else. Song Sung Blue stars Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman as Mike and Claire Sardina, who performed as the Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning and Thunder.
Coming up, we also have the DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Avatar: Fire and Ash, a new edition of Trailerpalooza on Thirty Minute Reviews, as we are anticipating Supergirl, Avengers: Doomsday, and more to be released in the upcoming week, and catching up on the shows we did not finish this year.
